Marrakech

They call it the Red City, but Marrakech is really every color at once: pink walls, green gardens, blue Majorelle, golden light on the Koutoubia at sunset. It's Morocco's most intense city — loud, warm, theatrical — and the easiest place in the country to fall into an adventure within an hour of landing.

It's also Ahmanar's busiest community: meetups happen here almost every night.

March–May and October–November: warm days, cool nights. Summer regularly passes 40°C.
Getting there
Marrakech–Menara airport (RAK) has direct flights from most of Europe; comfortable trains connect from Casablanca in about 3 hours.
Budget feel
Something for everyone: dorm beds and street food for a few euros, beautiful mid-range riads around €40–80 a night.
